silly sisters

A 3 part round or canon, composed by Henry Purcell.  This is on the second? classic 'Silly Sisters' album (June Tabor and Maddy Prior).  Some of the tracks of the album are available on youtube but 'Cakes and Ale' is blocked. The harmony singing is, of course, wonderful.

I gave her cakes, and I gave her ale,
and I gave her sack and sherry,
kiss'd her once, and I kissed her twice,
And we were wondrous merry.

I gave her beads and bracelets fine,
And I gave her gold, down derry.
I thought she was afear'd, till she stroked my beard,
And we were wondrous merry.

Merry, my heart's merry,
my cock's merry,
my spright's merry,
merry, merry.

It reminds me of Tom Bombadil

Hey! Come derry dol! Hop along, my hearties!
Hobbits! Ponies all! We are fond of parties.
Now let the fun begin! Let us sing together!
